Lee Enfield (SMLE) No1 Mk.III. rifle. Blade marked Crown, G.R.I., Mk II, 9 ’43, R.F.I. (=Rifle Factory Ishapore, september 1943) on the ricasso and three Indian inspection marking on reverse side. False edge. Squared pommel with oil hole and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 16.5 mm. Excellent wooden grips secured with screwbolts.
Correct shortened black leather scabbard. All stitches intact and no dents to the fittings.
This is a No.4 Mk.III but it is not correct marked on the ricasso. It is marked Mk.II which is an error.
Very nice example in a very good condition.!
