A Large size press photo of Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Paulus. He commanded the 6th army during the battle of Stalingrad. He was awarded the titel of Fieldmarshall 30 Jan 1943 one day before his capitulation to the Russians. Hitler had awarded him the titel to prevent his capitulation as no fieldmarshall ever surrendered to an enemy.
